Biographical history
Albert Mills [1877-?] was one of the early converts and evangelists among the Gospel Workers located principally in eastern Grey County, Ontario. He was ordained by the church in 1910. For many years he was the secretary of Conference, and was active in the production of the denominational paper, the "Holiness Worker." Eventually he became President of the Gospel Workers, and held that office when it united with the Church of the Nazarene in 1957.
Custodial history
The diaries were in the possession of Albert Mills' daughter Isabel Dales of Meaford, Ontario. She gave permission for Gerald and Helen Hobbs to have them microfilmed when they were doing research on the Gospel Workers Church.
This material forms part of the General Council program of the United Church of Canada Archive.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of six volumes of Albert Mills' diaries which cover the period from May 26, 1902 to May 15, 1907. Mills resumed writing on Dec. 24, 1909, and the diaries continue to April 6, 1910. The writings record Mills' spiritual state and his daily activities, and also detail the evangelistic and institutional activity of the Gospel Workers which organized into a church early in the time covered by the diaries.
