Bible Christians in England had seceded from the Wesleyans to establish a distinct Connexion in 1815. In 1831, missionaries were sent to Prince Edward Island and Upper Canada. The Canada West District was formed in 1842, but first met in 1844. It was divided into three smaller Districts at its final meeting in 1852. A General Meeting of Preachers and Representatives of these Districts was held in 1853 and again in 1854. Permission was given by the English Conference to establish a Canadian Conference, which first met in 1855. In 1865, the Prince Edward Island missions joined the this Conference. An Executive Committee was first mentioned in the published digest of Conference minutes for 1871; members included the President and Secretary of Conference, Superintendents of Districts, Editor and Book Steward, Missionary Secretary and Treasurer and General Financial Secretary. Some minor changes in membership were made leading up to 1884, when this Conference joined the other Methodist denominations to form the Methodist Church (Canada) in 1884.

Fonds consists of: minutes of the Canadian Conference and its antecedent administrative units, the Canada West District and the General Meeting of Preachers and Representatives, in two volumes, 1844-1860 and 1872-1884 (78.032C); minutes of the Executive Committee, 1873-1884 (78.033C); and records re property including the Church Property Schedule (bound volume with pages devoted to each circuit or mission, with information about church buildings, parsonages, burial grounds and other properties (categories of information include, for example, name and location of property; building size, material, date and value; land value; for church buildings, number of people accommodated and average attendance; location of property deeds; and other particulars) and Comparative Financial Statement of Church Property, [ca. 1881]-1884 (78.034C).
