Administrative history
Castleton - Grafton Pastoral Charge was formed ca. 1969 when the two pastoral charges Castleton and Grafton amalgamated; it includes Castleton and St. Andrew's in Grafton. It is still an active pastoral charge of the United Church of Canada.
In 1925, two pastoral charges were initially established in the Grafton area: Grafton and Centreton Pastoral Charge (including Grafton, Centreton, and Wicklow, all of which were formerly Methodist), and Grafton and Vernonville Pastoral Charge (including St. Andrew's in Grafton and St. Andrew's in Vernonville, both formerly Presbyterian). The situation changed in 1926 when a separate Centreton Pastoral Charge was established, and a new Grafton Pastoral Charge was set up that included St. Andrew's in Grafton, St. Andrew's in Vernonville, and Wicklow. The Wicklow Church closed ca. 1955, and the Vernonville Church closed in 1969. Also in 1969, the charge was re-organized as Grafton-Castleton Pastoral Charge, made up of Grafton and Castleton. A year later the charge was re-named Castleton- Grafton Pastoral Charge. St. Andrew's United Church, Vernonville, was established in 1925; formerly Presbyterian; it closed in 1969. St. Andrew's United Church, Grafton, was established in 1925; formerly Presbyterian.
