Biographical history
Presbyterian services began in Central Park in 1898. At this time Fairview, Central Park and Port Moody were linked as one charge. In 1900 Fairview and Central Park become a two-point charge. In 1906 Central Park became a separate charge. Central Park Presbyterian Church was built in 1907. In 1911 with the recent growth in population the church did not find itself very central for the people, and so the congregation voluntarily disbanded. Those in the East Collingwood section to the west of Central Park organized into Knox United Church and those in the Burnaby section to the east of Central Park organized the Henderson Church. In 1913 Central Park was re-opened as a Student Mission Field. In 1922 Presbytery wanted the congregations of Central Park, Knox-Collingwood, and Livingstone to consider amalgamation. The congregations of Central Park and Livingstone rejected the offer. Historical accounts surrounding Central Park after 1922 are ambiguous. The fate of Central Park Presbyterian Church is currently unknown.
