Administrative history
Central United Church, located at 194 Avondale Avenue in Stratford, was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. Central Methodist Church was established in 1845. The first church was located at lots 116 and 117 on Erie Street in Stratford. The church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. A new church building was constructed on Avondale Avenue in 1962. It amalgamated with St. John's United Church in Stratford ca. 2015 to form Avondale United Church, using the Central church building

Fonds consists of Quarterly Board minutes of Stratford Primitive Methodist Circuit (includes Waterloo Street Church in Stratford, Fullarton, Mitchell, Logan, Downie, Sebringville), 1864-1884; circuit register of Harmony Methodist Circuit (includes Harmony, Maplewood, Harrington (Harrington West), 1870-1920; records of Central Methodist Church, Stratford (includes Stratford Wesleyan Methodist Circuit, Stratford, Harmony, Harrington, Maplewood, Brookdale, Zion Church in Shakespeare), 1860-1925; records, including baptisms, 1900-1928, 1939-2015, marriages, 1896-2015, burials, 1900-1928, 1939-2015, of Central United Church, Stratford (includes Central Methodist Church), 1831-2015
