Chalmers Pastoral Charge was formed in 1928; it included Chalmers Church in Chatham Township, Hind's Church in Dover Township, French's Church in Chatham Township and beginning in 1968, Lindsay Road United Church in Chatham Township. On June 30, 2007, with the closure of Chalmers and French's, it briefly became a single-point charge that included only Lindsay Road United Church. On December 30, 2007, Lindsay Road United Church amalgamated with Tupperville Pastoral Charge and Chalmers Pastoral Charge ceased to exist.
Chalmers United Church, located at 24867 Caledonia Road in Chatham Township, was established in 1925, formerly Presbyterian. Chalmers Presbyterian Church was built in 1878. In 1894, Chalmers Presbyterian Church amalgamated with Knox Presbyterian (located on the corner of the Seventh Concession and Centre Side Road) to form First Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township and services were held between the two buildings; the name changed again the following year to Lower McColl Church (Chalmers) and Upper McColl Church (Knox). The fomer Knox church was eventually closed in 1899. Chalmers joined the United Church in 1925 as part of the Louisville Pastoral Charge. It became a point of the Chalmers Pastoral Charge ca. 1928 and remained as such until the church closed on June 30, 2007.
Hind's United Church was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. A Methodist Church was established in Dover Township ca. 1870 on Lot 18, Concession 7. A new church was constructed ca. 1900 on property owned by the Hind family at Lot 19, Concession 7, and the name was changed to Hind's Methodist Church. The church joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. it closed ca. 1968
French's United Church, located at 9645 Pioneer Line at Chatham Township, was established in 1925, fomerly Methodist. It began as a preaching point of the Chatham Station Primitive Methodist Circuit in 1865 and then with the formation of the Methodist Church of Canada in 1884, it becaem part of Louisville Circuit.The French's Methodist Curch was first built on Lot 9, Concession 4, in 1874. The church then moved to the corner of that land parcel in December 1885. It joined the United Church in 1925 as part of the Louisville Pastoral Charge. It became a point of the Chalmers Pastoral Charge ca. 1928 and remained as such until the church closed on June 30, 2007.
