Administrative history
The Christian Church Upper Canada Conference was founded as early as 1830; it became known as the Canada Conference by 1843, and as the Ontario Conference by 1867 (though these names were not used consistently). In 1913 the Ontario Conference followed the parent body into union and became the Ontario Conference of the General Council of Congregational and Christian Churches of America. In 1925, the Ontario Conference took in the few Congregational Churches that did not join the United Church of Canada. In 1937 the Ontario Conference became affiliated with the New York Congregational Conference but still retained its own name.
