Biographical history

Cornelius K. Mathewson (1882-1963) was born at Newport, Fifeshire, Scotland on January 6, 1882. He came to Canada to enter the Presbyterian College, Montreal in preparation for the ministry of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. From 1909 to 1910 he wsa student minister at Sinclair, Manitoba, and he served there in the summers of 1911 to 1914. He served overseas from 1914 to 1918 before resuming his studies in Canada. He was ordained in 1920 and served the following charges: Heckston, Kirkhill, Carp and Lyn, all in Ontario. He retired from the active ministry in 1954. He died on January 13, 1963.

Fonds consists of one minister's record book (includes baptisms and marriages, 1920-1961, for Heckston, Kirkhill, Carp and Lyn areas; sermon notes and newspaper clippings).
