Biographical history
David E. Sparks (1938-) was a Minister with the United Church of Canada, and for a time, the United Reformed Church of England and Wales. He was ordained in 1975. He was a minister in Thunder Bay at Westminster United (1983-1988), Terrace Bay (1988-1990), First United (1990-1999), Knox and Pruden Street (1999-2003). He was a retired Minister in Cambrian Presbytery from 2003-2008, and worked as retired supply in Thunder Bay at Wesley (2005), and Wesley/St. Paul’s (2006) as well in British Columbia at Okanagan Falls (2008-2010). Sparks has published books on worship and order, such as “A Good Ending: A Compassionate Guide to Funerals, Pastoral Care and Life Celebrations”, “Off to a Good Start: Openers and Prayers for Church Meetings”, and “Pastoral Prayers to Share” (a 3 book lectionary series). He has led workshops on various aspects of public prayer, and has had hymns published in Canada and the United States.
