Administrative history
Emmanuel United Church, located at 22 Bridgeport Rd West in Waterloo, was established in 1968, following the general union of the Evangelical United Brethren Church with the United Church of Canada. Waterloo was one of the first Evangelical Association preaching places in Upper Canada, with German-speaking Christians of the area attending a camp meeting in 1839. The first Emmanuel Church was built in 1849 with larger buildings opened in 1871 and 1905. Emmanuel United Church is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.
