Biographical history
George Milledge Tuttle (1915-) was a United Church minister, administrator and Moderator. He was born at Medicine Hat, Alberta, the son of Methodist minister Aubrey Stephen Tuttle. He obtained a doctorate in theology from Victoria University. He had several mission fields, a pastorate in Sangudo, Alberta and a term as assistant minister in Toronto. As well, he served as National Director of Youth Work, Professor at Union College, Vancouver, 1951-1966, and Principal of St. Stephen's College, Edmonton, 1966-1979. He was President of British Columbia Conference in 1963, on the Executive of General Council in 1974 and served as Moderator from 1977 to his retirement in 1980.

Scope and content
Fonds consists of newspaper clippings, articles, a photograph and a scrapbook compiled by George Tuttle about his early life, his years on the faculty of Union College, as Principal of St. Stephen's College, and as Moderator of The United Church of Canada; also includes two articles and a radio address by Aubrey Stephen Tuttle (88.043C/TR); and correspondence regarding Dr. Tuttle's career, 1934-1994; book reviews and letters regarding Dr. Tuttle's book, "So Rich a Soil", 1986-1987; correspondence regarding his election, and his retirement as Moderator, 1977, 1980; various tributes and other miscellaneous papers, (95.102C); correspondence regarding Dr. Tuttle's ministry, 1966-1988; letters of condolence to Mrs. Aubrey S. Tuttle on the death of her husband, 1949; funeral services for Very Rev. and Mrs. Aubrey S. Tuttle, 1949, 1954; photographs (95.123C/TR); letters of congratulations, 1957-1966 (2000.097C/TR) .
