Biographical history

George W. Smitherman (1867-1942) was a Methodist minister in Ontario. He was born in Kent, England, graduated from Victoria University and was ordained in 1899, the same year in which he married Annie Lomas. He served in the Guelph and Hamilton Conferences including Norval, 1901-1903; Drew, 1904-1906; Freelton, 1907-1910; Teeterville, 1911-1914; Rockwood, 1915-1917; Mount Pleasant, 1918-1920; Jarvis, 1921-1923; and then was retired in Toronto from 1924 until he died in 1942.

This material forms part of the General Council program of the United Church of Canada Archive.
