The members of the "chain" were Rod Booth, Harold McKay, Arch McCurdy, Al Davies, Jim Campbell, Hugh McDonald, Doug Blair, Howard Fraser and Gordon Imai. The chain ended in 1967, when the letters ceased. Another round of letters was written in celebration of the fortieth anniversary in 1997, and the group also held a reunion.
