Administrative history

Gorrie-Wroxeter Pastoral Charge was established in 1955 when the Gorrie and Wroxeter United Churches were grouped together. It continues to be an active pastoral charge of the United Church of Canada.

Gorrie Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925, formerly Methodist and Presbyterian; it included Gorrie and Orange Hill Church in Howick Township, and was discontinued in 1955 when Gorrie Church and Wroxeter Church formed Gorrie-Wroxeter Pastoral Charge

Wroxeter Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925, formerly Methodist and Presbyterian; it included Wroxeter and Salem Church in Howick Township, and was discontinued in 1955 when Wroxeter United Church and Gorrie Wroxeter Church formed Gorrie - Wroxeter Pastoral Charge

Wroxeter United Church, located at 1090 Centre Street, was established in 1925, formerly Methodist and Presbyterian. Wroxeter Methodist Church was established around 1867 and a church was built around the summer of 1868 at the entrance of the park on "Market Square." The Methodists built a new church in the early 1890s. Wroxeter Presbyterian Church was established in 1858 and a church was built in 1863. Later, a new church was built on Main Street in 1892. The two churches united in 1925 to form Wroxeter United Church. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Gorrie United Church, located at 2046 Albert Street, was established in 1925; formerly Methodist. Gorrie Methodist Church was established in 1892; it joined the United Church in 1925. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.

Salem United Church In Howick Township was established in 1925. It closed in 1955.
