Administrative history
The Holiness Movement Church was founded by Ralph C. Horner after he was deposed from the ministry of the Methodist Church in 1895. It was incorporated in 1900. A division occurred in about 1917, and Horner and some other members left the Holiness Movement Church to form the Standard Church of America which was incorporated in New York State in 1919 and in Canada in 1920. Others, however, continued as the Holiness Movement Church until its merger with the Free Methodist Church in 1958.
The material was in the possession of Rev. Robert Buchanan (Free Methodist Church; in the course of their research, Gerald and Helen Hobbs arranged for the microfilming, and for placing the films in the United Church Archives.
