Part of United Church of Canada Toronto Conference fonds

Camping was under the supervision of the Mission of Canada Camping Committee ca. 1972 and then the Camping Subcommittee of the Christian Development Committee. The Camping Committee hired a Coordinating Director for Camping in the 1970s to communicate directly with camps within the boundaries of Toronto Conference, to organize staff training events, and to report to Conference and to Committee on camping ministry. By 1996, this work became part of the Conference Minister for Christian Development with Youth and Young Adults, Camping and Children portfolio. In 2001, the position became Conference Minister for Christian Formation and Congregational Development, Camping.

Series consists of correspondence files of the Coordinator Director for Camping, 1971-1989, correspondence files of the Conference Minister for Christian Development, including reports and surveys, 1990-1996, and files, including minutes, reports, and marketing materials, of camps within Toronto Conference, including: Camp Big Canoe, 1967-2000; Camp Cedar Glen (includes Camp Kehoe), 1967-1974; Camp Friendly Acres, 1961, 1970; Camp Lorrain, 1970-1974; Camp Simpresca, 1970-1998; Lake Scugog Camp, 1962-2008; Ryde Lake Camp, 1970-1973; Sparrow Lake Camp, 1969-2007; and Wesceneaskin, 1957-2006.
