Series consists of a numbered series of typescript newspaper columns, as well as photocopies of several of the published articles, drafts of numerous articles, and news clippings of articles by Howse and others, 1938-1983. Files include publishing contracts and correspondence, reviews of his books, and correspondence, including letters from admirers and critics of his newspaper columns. There is a great deal of material from assemblies of the World Council of Churches, including press releases, statements, orders of worship, and related material.

Series consists of personal and family records, 1916-1981. Files include condolence letters on the deaths of his siblings, school records for Howse, including his thesis from Union Theological seminary. There is material from Howse's pastorates in Beverly Hills, California, Winnipeg and Toronto, much of it correspondence, also some sermons, newspaper profiles, and personal ephemera. There is also biographical material, including transcripts of interviews conducted by his son, which contain personal and family history references.

Series contains agendas, proceedings, minutes and correspondence of the Continuing Committee on Muslim-Christian Co-operation, including journalism relating to its meetings by Howse, 1942-1972. There is also a great deal of pamphlet material dealing with Arab-Israeli relations, Islam, the Palestinian crisis, and related issues.

Series consists of records relating to Howse's interest and support in social issues, 1936-1979. Files include records documenting Howse’s support for Japanese Canadians interned during the War, material relating to the Canadian Church Relief Abroad organization, and includes a good deal of correspondence between Howse and German post-war refugees whom he had met there in the later 1940s. There is also material relating to the attempt to legislate hate laws in Canada in the 1960s, and material on freedom of speech and of the press.
