Biographical history

The Rev. Jessie Jansen is a United Church of Canada minister. She was born in 1934 in Arnhem, the Netherlands. She received a diploma from the Centre for Christian Studies in 1979 before attending McMaster Divinity College and Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto. She was ordained in June, 1981 in the Hamilton Conference. During her career in ministry, she held pastoral charges at Mount Carmel-Zion United Church in Morriston (ca. 1980-1984), Freelton-Strabane United Church in Strabane (ca. 1984-1991), and St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton (ca. 1991-2000). She served as a supply minister at Ryerson United Church in Hamilton (ca. 2002-2004), Lowville United Church in Burlington (ca. 2003), and St. James United Church in Waterdown (ca. 2004), the latter two of which she also served as Voluntary Associate Minister in her retirement.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of two personal registers belonging to The Rev. Jessie Jansen. The registers primarily cover the period of time when she was a chaplain at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton (ca. 1991-2000), though the entries extend beyond that time period, and throughout Hamilton and the surrounding area.
