    Administrative history

Wesley United Church, located 580 Middle Side Road North in Amherstburg, was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. Methodist services were first held by Nathan Bangs in Amherstburg in 1804. From 1804 to 1826, the area was served by the Thames Circuit. In 1844, the first church building was constructed on the north east corner of Seymour and Gore Streets. A new building was constructed in 1892 at Bathurst and Richmond Streets. This building was used until 1963. The congregation joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. In 1963, a third building was constructed on Sandwich Street. The congregation sold this building in 2013 and moved to Middle Side Road North. It disbanded ca. 2016.
