Series relates to Val Anderson's work on the Alternatives Committee, a committee of the Canadian Ecumenical Action. The series includes records relating to the program, the David McCord Alternatives program and reference material relating to corrections and justice alternatives. Series consists of minutes, correspondence, reports, memoranda and other materials.

Fonds consists of correspondence, reports, surveys, pamphlets, articles, and other literature on a wide range of social issues including: marriage and family, immigration, prison reform, child welfare, temperance, venereal disease, observance of the sabbath, human rights, racial relations, the disabled, labour, health insurance and gambling, 1912-1951.
