Biographical history

Lewis Warner Hill (1854-1940) was a Methodist minister in Ontario. He was born in Innisfil, Ontario, attended Victoria College and was ordained in the Methodist Church in 1881. He served at Prince Albert, Vroomanton, Uxbridge, Stouffville, Newmarket, Port Perry, and then in several charges in Toronto and Burlington. From 1914 until his death, his charges included Ingersol, 1913-1916; Leamington, 1917-1920; and Parkhill, 1921-1922. He first married Matilda Long and later married Elizabeth Jackson.

This material forms part of the General Council program of the United Church of Canada Archive.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of personal marriage register of Rev. Hill for Ingersoll, 1914-1917; Mersea Township, 1918; Grand Bend, 1924, 1933; Parkhill, 1927-1932, 1934-1936, 1938; Dundas, 1934; and London, 1936; and a description of the canes carved for The United Church of Canada General Council and Conferences by L.W. Hill with an accompanying letter about them.
