        John A. Logan was born in Upper Steiacke, Nova Scotia and educated at Pine Hill Theological College. He was ordained by the Presbyterian Church in 1877. In 1892, he moved to British Columbia and held pastorates at Chilliwack, Cumberland, and Richmond. In 1908, he began work as registrar, treasurer, and lecturer in church plity at Westminster Hall in Vancouver. He retired from active ministry in 1925. Some of the positions he held in the church included 19 years as clerk of the Synod of Biritsh Columbia; moderator Westminster Presbytery in 1898; moderator of the Synod of British Columbia in 1905, and honourary secretary of BC Conference after church union.
