    Biographical history

    The Lord's Day Alliance was first organized in Ontario in 1895 to advocate Sunday closing in industry and business. The Alliance sponsored a national campaign to secure the Lord Day's Act, which was passed by Parliament in 1906 and came into effect in 1907. The B.C. Branch was originally headed by W. Leslie Clay of St. Andrew's Church in Victoria.

    Fonds consists of correspondence and other papers of Harold T. Allen, Secretary of the British Columbia-Alberta Branch (1956-1961). Fonds includes minutes of the Nelson (B.C.) Branch (1902-1906) and of the Rossland (B.C.) Branch (1906-1909).
