Administrative history
The Lord's Day Alliance (renamed as People for Sunday Association in 1982) was established in Toronto in 1888 as a Protestant ecumenical organization that promoted the adherence of the Sabbath. Contrasted against greater cultural secularization of urban living that included commercial sales and economic business, city transportation, and recreation carried out on Sundays, the Lord's Day Alliance lobbying culminated in the the Lord's Day Act passed by Prime Minister Sir Wilfred Laurier in 1906 to limit such activities.
