        History

        Arthur J. Love (1889-1972) was a United Church of Canada minister. Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, Love was ordained in the Methodist Church of Canada in 1919. He served the following circuits/charges: Staffa, 1919-1920; Harwich, 1921-1922; Siloam, 1922-1925; Putnam, 1925-1928; Dundas Street UC (Woodstock, Ont.), 1928-1934; Sydenham UC (Brantford, Ont.), 1934-1937; Queen Street UC (Fort Erie, Ont.), 1939-1942; Wesley UC (Hamilton, Ont.), 1942-1949; Chalmers UC (Ottawa, Ont.), 1951-1952; Wesley UC (Ottawa, Ont.), 1952-1959. He was also the chair of both Oxford (1932-1933) and Hamilton Presbyteries (1948-1949).

        Love retired in 1959; however, he continued as an assistant minister at Trinity UC and St. John UC, both in Hamilton. He also served as the minsiter of Mount Hamilton UC from 1964-1965.

        He died on July 18, 1972.
