        History

        Alexander Dawson Matheson (1889-1962) was a Presbyterian/United Church minister. He was born in Martintown, Ontario, and graduated from Queen's University with a Master's Degree in 1912. Dr. Matheson married Gertrude McQuaig. He was ordained by Montreal Presbytery in 1916 and served at Chalmers Wesley United Church for twenty-three years. He served as a chaplain in the R.C.A.F. and the R.C.N. during World War II. In 1945, Dr. Matheson became Principal of Emmanuel College.
