Administrative history
Dashwood-Zurich Pastoral charge was created in 1979 when Dashwood and Zurich amalgamated. The Dashwood preaching point is the Calvary United Church and Zurich consisted of the Emmanuel United Church.
Emmanuel United Church, located at Mill Street in Zurich, was established in 1968. Initially a point on the Huron Mission of the Evangelical Association, Zurich was a rural preaching stop where German-speaking farmers received religious instruction in the 1850s. Emmanuel Church was built in 1874, and remained with the Evangelical denomination through its alterations, first as the Emmanuel Evangelical Church and then as the Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren in 1946, until union was effected with the United Church in 1968. Church is known as Emmanuel United Church as well as colloquially the Zurich United Church. The church closed on December 31, 2015.
Calvary United Church, formerly Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church, closed December 31, 2017.
