Biographical history
The Pastoral Institute of British Columbia was established in 1969 to provide training for hospital chaplaincy service, counselling and pastoral care. The original membership consisted of appointees of Union College and the Anglican Theological College, and of the Anglican, United and Presbyterian Churches. Later, representatives from the Lutheran, Roman Catholic, and Unitarian Churches, the Salvation Army, and the Canadian Jewish Congress were appointed.
