Established in 1860 with the union of the Free Church of Nova Scotia and the Presbyterian Church of Nova Scotia, it was joined by the Presbyterian Church of New Brunswick in 1866. In 1875, the Presbyterian Church of the Lower Provinces of British North America was one of the uniting churches in the establishment of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

Fonds consists of the following series: Synod minutes, 1860-1875; Board of Home Missions minutes, 1860-1875; Board of Foreign Missions minutes, 1860-1875; Board of Education minutes, 1861-1877; and records of the Presbyteries, 1786-1902 (predominant 1860-1875).
