Biographical history
Quadra Island United Church began as Cape Mudge Indian Mission. Methodist religious services began in the area as early as 1891 however, it was not until 1919 that Cape Mudge received its first resident ordained minister. The minister opened the Cape Mudge Indian Mission with a vessel called the Iwyll. Initially the Mission had responsibility for Cape Mudge, Campbell River and surrounding communities in the area under the Methodist Church of Canada. The United Church continued the Mission after church union in 1925. In 1937 marine work out of Cape Mudge was closed and no church owned boat was used there again until 1948 when the vessel Robert C. Scott I was brought into service. In 1959 Cape Mudge Indian Mission was renamed Quadra Island United Church.

Biographical history
R.C. Scott opened the Cape Mudge Indian Mission, with the Iwyll being brought to the coast for his use. Initially the Mission had responsibility for "Cape Mudge and Campbell River" and surrounding regions under the Methodist Church of Canada. The United Church continued the Mission after church union in 1925; in 1948 it had no minister, although in the 1950s it did continue to be served at least by a lay minister; it is no longer listed in 1960. Ministers who served the Mission during the period covered by the records include R.C. Scott from 1919 to 1925, George Ridland, 1925 to 1928, George Knox, 1928-1933, Thomas Colwell, 1936 to 1937, Manly Eby, 1937 to 1939, Herman McConnell, 1940 to 1943, and T.
