Biographical history

The Rev. Arthur Meighen was born on September 1, 1926 in Stirling, Ontario. He graduated from Teachers' College in Toronto in 1952 and taught school for 25 years prior to entering ministry. He completed a Masters of Divinity at Emmanuel College, Toronto in 1979 and was ordained by Toronto Conference the following year. He married Ruth Gunsolus in 1961 and had four children. He served the following pastoral charges: Janetville, Yelverton and Mount Horeb, Greenbank, Seagrave and Pinedale, Zephyr and Sandford, Toronto: Hope and, as a retired associate at Glen Ayr United Church in Scarborough. He retired in 1991. He died on August 20, 2004 in Scarborough.

Custodial history

Registers were held by Rev. Arthur Meighen Rodgers' daughter following his death in 2004 until deposit.

Scope and content

Accession consists of two personal register of Rev. Arthur Meighen Rodgers, including marriages, 1994-2004, and burials, 1990-1998. Marriages took place in the Greater Toronto Area, including: Scarborough, Toronto, Pickering, Port Perry, North York, Ajax, East York, King City, Markham, Oshawa, Oro-Medonte, Chalk Lake (Durham), Amherst Island, Richmond Hill, Greenbank, Uxbridge, Mississauga, Grafton, Newmarket, Unionville, and Bowmanville. Burials records include the following communities: Scarborough, Toronto, Brooklin, Lindsay, Napanee, Reaboro, Willowdale, Ajax, Pickering, North York, Peterborough, Oshawa, and Port Perry.
