Previously described under Japan - Shizuoka - Orphanages - Shizuoka Home (F.M.B.) - Grounds Handwritten note on verso reads: Not taken by K.D. Typewritten note following title on piece of paper previously attached to verso reads: Another institution on whose advisory board Miss Rorke serves is the orphanage, or "Shizuoka Christian Home", as it is known in the city, shown in the picture. This group of buildings contains quarters for a large number of children, a well-equipped playground Activities are carried on for the pre-school children, and the older ones, who have not been adopted into some private home, are given an opportunity to earn thru [sic] employment in a "geta" factory on the grounds, and in the care of the tea bushes and vegetable gardens shown in the foreground. The orphanage was established under the men's board of the Christian Methodist Church many years ago, and is conducted by an earnest Christian couple who have been there for thirty years.
