Administrative history

Thistletown was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. In 1874, a Methodist Church was constructed in the Thistletown, community after having revival meetings at the Congregationalist church. It was originally a part of the four-point circuit including Weston, Woodbridge and Emery (called Claremont then). From 1893-1913, it was part of a two-point charge with Weston and then from 1913-1921, a part of Malton Circuit with Richview, Bethany, Trinity, Sharon and Malton. In 1921, the Thistletown Methodist Circuit included Ebenezer, Smithfield and Sharon, which then became Thistletown Pastoral Charge in 1925 when the churches joined the United Church of Canada. Smithfield United Church would disband that same year. Before 1986 it remained a three-point Pastoral Charge that included Ebenezer, and Sharon. Thistletown United Church was located at 1030 Albion Road in Etobicoke, southeast from Islington Ave. and Albion Road It closed in 2002
