        History

Timothy Eaton Memorial United Church was established in 1925, formerly Methodist. In 1909, the first Board of Trustees was elected and the newly formed congregation held its first service at the Deaconess' Home Building at the corner of Avenue Road and St. Clair Avenue West on September 18, 1910. Services were held at that building until the Sunday School building was constructed. On December 20, 1914, the completed church, located at 230 St. Clair Avenue West, was dedicated. The church is named after Timothy Eaton, the Toronto-based businessman, whose family was actively involved in the church's development and construction. It is still an active congregation of the United Church of Canada.
