        History

The earliest worship service of the Presbyterian Church in Vernon was conducted in a school house around 1885. Church property was purchased in 1891 under the name First Presbyterian Church, and on February 21 1892, the church was opened under the name St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. In 1925, St Andrew's Presbyterian Church came into church union as St. Andrew's United Church. In 1892, the first resident Methodist missionary came to Vernon, and within the year property was acquired. Vernon Methodist Church was built in 1893, and extended in 1906. In 1925, Vernon Methodist Church came into church union and voted to change their name to Central United Church. In 1929, St. Andrew's United Church and Central United Church amalgamated to form Vernon United Church. A new church building was erected in 1953-1954, and in 1962 Vernon United Church changed its name to Trinity United Church. In 1985 Trinity United Church burned down and a new church was built to replace it.
