Administrative history
The idea of an Ontario Conference for Women of The United Church of Canada was initiated by Marion Logan, then of the Division of Mission in Canada (DMC) following conversations with the Ontario Council and the DMC.
A task force was set up to implement their decision to jointly sponsor a conference for the women of the United Church in Ontario; Anne Squire agreed to chair this group which eventually became the planning committee. The purpose of the conference was to provide an experience of spiritual renewal as the sensitive issues for women are explored. The first conference was held June 20-22, 1980 at the University of Waterloo.
The Planning Committee was made up of 12-13 members and there was one representative from each of the six central conferences of the United Church along with the treasurer, registrar, secretary and a member from the United Church Women Consultation.
