Administrative history
The Associate Presbytery seceded from the Church of Scotland in 1733 and in 1747 split into two factions known as the Burghers and Anti-Burghers. These factions reunited again in 1820 to form the United Associate Secession Church of Scotland and in 1847 became the United Presbyterian Church upon union with the Relief Church.

Fonds consists of minutes of the churches in Scotland which became the United Presbyterian Church in 1847 including, for example, the Associate Presbytery, the Associate Synod, the United Associate Synod, the United Presbyterian Synod and the Burgher and Anti-Burgher Synods. Includes correspondence re missions in Canada.
