History
The Wesleyan Methodist Church in Canada was created in 1833 out of a union of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Canada, 1829-1833, and the Upper Canada circuits of the Wesleyan Methodist Church (Great Britain). In 1840 this union was dissolved, with the British Wesleyans in Upper Canada and the West putting themselves under the direction of the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society until 1847, when the union was again resumed. In 1874, this Church amalgamated with the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Eastern British America and the Methodist New Connexion Church of Canada to become the Methodist Church of Canada.
