    Biographical history

Presbyterian worship services were begun informally in West Vancouver in 1908, in a private home, attracting people of several denominations. In 1911, a church was erected, but the Methodist members withdrew and built their own church. The Methodist congregation was affiliated with the North Lonsdale Methodist Church in North Vancouver, with whom they shared a minister. In 1915, the congregations met together, and over the next few years they consolidated their union of Presbyterians, Methodists, Congregationalists and Baptists. This was the first Union Church in British Columbia, and was formalized with a Constitution and Articles of Faith in 1919. The Articles of Faith provided for Baptist baptismal practices. In 1920, the two church buildings were brought together on the site of the present church, and the remodeled church included a baptismal room. In 1925, with the founding of the United Church of Canada, the Baptist members withdrew, to organize their own church.
