        History

        The Yorkville Primitive Methodist Church, was also known as St. Paul's Primitive Methodist Church. Located at 121 Avenue Road, began as a Primitive Methodist mission in Yorkville in 1844 on Cumberland Street. In 1867 a new church was built at Yonge and Davenport, and about 1887 the new church was opened. In 1884, the name of the church was changed from St. Paul's Primitive Methodist to St. Paul's Methodist.
